Assessments for Children & Adolescents in Greater Seattle & Portland
Helping families find clarity.
Parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when a child learns, thinks, or interacts with the world in unique or unexpected ways. Challenges at school, frustrations at home, or difficulties with friendships can leave families searching for answers. Comprehensive, culturally responsive assessments go beyond tests and scores, considering a child’s lived experiences, identities, and unique learning and processing styles. This allows for practical, empowering guidance that honors strengths, validates experiences, and builds confidence both at home and at school.

About
Hi! I’m Dr. Claire Dodd
From teaching abroad to years spent working in community clinics, schools, and therapeutic settings, I’ve learned that when we slow down and make space for children to show us who they are, we often discover far more than what shows up on a checklist. My hope is to offer families a place where curiosity is encouraged, differences are understood with compassion, and each child’s experience — shaped by culture, language, family, and identity — is held with genuine care.
I’m especially passionate about supporting bilingual and Spanish speaking families, as well as neurodivergent children with complex learning, social, and emotional needs. Together, we’ll identify not only what your child needs, but also the strengths that can carry them forward — so you can move ahead with clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of connection with your child.
Child & Adolescent Assessment Services
A Specialized Approach for PNW Families
Every child experiences the world in their own unique way. When questions arise about learning, attention, development, communication, or emotional regulation, I work closely with caregivers to see the full picture. By working with one family at a time, I’m able to provide a thorough, individualized process that brings clarity, meaningful insight, and practical support for your child at home, at school, and in everyday life.
-
I provide a variety of emotional, behavioral, neurodevelopmental, and academic/learning assessments for children and teens, tailored to each child’s unique needs.
Every evaluation is personalized, and the specific tests and assessment battery are determined during the initial intake, based on your child’s history, current challenges, and what you hope to learn. This ensures that the process gives the clearest, most useful picture of your child.
-
While every evaluation is unique, assessments often focus on key areas that impact learning, behavior, and daily life:
Learning & Academic Skills – Reading, writing, math, and learning differences, including twice-exceptional (2e) learners
ADHD & Executive Functioning – Attention, focus, organization, planning, and self-regulation
Autism Spectrum & Social Communication – Social skills, flexibility, routines, sensory processing, and communication
Emotional & Behavioral Functioning – Mood, anxiety, coping, and regulation patterns
General Neurodevelopmental Functioning – Cognitive abilities, problem-solving, and overall developmental profile
These areas help families understand strengths, challenges, and patterns, and guide practical strategies for supporting your child at home, at school, and in everyday life.
-
I work with a wide range of children and families, including:
Children and teens of all ages, from elementary through high school and college/early adulthood.
Neurodiverse children (ADHD, autism, learning differences)
Children with complex medical or developmental histories (e.g., epilepsy, cerebral palsy, in-utero substance exposure)
Spanish-speaking and bilingual families
Assessments are designed to feel age-appropriate and engaging, so your child can feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.
